Important Tax Dates for the New Year!

Welcome to 2024 and the calm before the {potential} storm! If you stay on top of things, this tax season definitely doesn’t have to be a storm. I’m here to help remind you, the small business owner, of the important tax dates and how to keep tax season from getting on top of you and your business.

Your 2024 tax season starts in December 2023

If you want to really be prepared for tax season, you’ll focus in on your financial needs in December {if you haven’t been doing that already throughout the year}. You can analyze your financials before year-end and decide if you need more tax deductions. How do you do this you ask? HIRE A BOOKKEEPER. Yes, you can hire a bookkeeper in January and be prepared for tax season, but, by then, you can’t adjust any of your {potential} tax deductions. Also, the majority of businesses start hiring a bookkeeper at the beginning of January so bookkeeper availability will decrease dramatically if you wait.

Know your entity type

LLCs, sole proprietorships, partnerships, S-corps, and C-corps can and do have varying tax dates/deadlines. It is important that before moving on to step 3, you look up your business registration and confirming your entity type.

Know the actual dates

The IRS typically starts accepting tax returns the last week of January. The tax deadlines are as follows:

  • S-corp: March 15, 2024

  • C-corp: April 15, 2024

  • Partnership LLCs: March 15, 2024

  • Sole Proprietorship: April 14, 2024

If any of this overwhelms you and you just don’t know where to start, just hit the button below to get started! I would love to hear from you and get your business set up for success in the new year!
